Meet Dr. Alexandria Polles
My office is located in a private, off the beaten path setting. The one-story brick building houses several therapists. Though I do employ the judicious use of psychiatric medications, I know that they are best thought of as tools for assistance in moving an individual forward in a therapeutic process and not as curative agents. My areas of special interest and experience include addictions, both chemical and process, post-traumatic stress disorder, and mood disorders. I believe that spiritual connection is an essential piece in mental and emotional well being.
The first visit is usually lengthy, and typically includes 2 hours of interviews and psychological testing. If there are legal issues, professional issues, extensive pre-operative clearance needs, or a need for diagnostic clarification, the assessment process can include the addition of 2-4 more hours of time. This can be done in one day or divided into return visits.
If there is a need for further treatment or therapeutic work, such recommendations will be made, with a collaborative approach as to how, where, and with whom this will occur.
