Cardiac Rehab

Cardiac/Pulmonary Rehabilitation Services

Our highly trained and skilled CardioPulmonary rehabilitation staff consists of physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and exercise physiologists.  All staff members are certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and other professional certifications.

Phase II Cardiac Rehab (Physician referral required)

Patients may enter into the program with one of the following diagnoses: CABG, MI within the past year, stable angina, valve replacement, heart transplant or cardiac stenting.  The Phase II program lasts up to 12 weeks (36 sessions at 3 sessions/week). During this time period the program coordinator weekly reassesses patient’s status and prescribes new exercise prescriptions based on the progress of the patient.  An RN continuously monitors the patients with telemetry units throughout the entire workout session. The patient’s heart rate, blood pressure, and SaO2 are monitored half way through each exercise to ensure there are no adverse reactions. The coordinator submits a 30 and 60-day progress letter to the physician for review.

Cost: contact your Insurance company for verification and coverage.

Pulmonary Rehab Program (Physician referral required)

Pulmonary Rehab is designed to improve your strength and endurance so you can participate in your daily activities, helping you to become more independent.

The Pulmonary Rehab program is for those patients that suffer from COPD. Insurance will cover those patients with a Forced Vital Capacity (FVC) of less than 60%, and/or Forced Expiratory Volume in 1 second (FEV1) of less than 60%. During Pulmonary rehabilitation the patient’s heart rate, blood pressure, and SaO2 are monitored on each exercise. If the patient’s SaO2 falls to unsafe level oxygen is available.

Cost: contact your Insurance company for verification and coverage.

Phase III  Cardiac Rehab

With physicians approval the patients are transferred into Phase III upon completion of Phase II. During Phase III, the patient’s heart rate, blood pressure, and SaO2 are monitored during each exercise bout. The exercise program is more advanced than the Phase II program. The patient wishing to join the Phase III program will need to join the Institute for Wellness and Sports Medicine. This requires the referring physician’s approval, a stable level of exercise tolerance, no ischemic reactions, no abnormal dysrhythmia, that angina and dyspnea be at minimal levels during maximum exercise, and that the patient’ s resting blood pressure and heart rate are within normal limits.

Cost: FREE to members.
