Celebration of Strong Women
Strong Women come in a variety of packages. They are tall, short, studious, serious, playful, fun loving, kind, active, quiet, bold, shy, wise and witty. Strong Women come from all walks of life. No two Strong Women are alike. They are unique – with their own set of characteristics that make them Strong Women. There is one thing, though, that they have in common – the way they live their lives inspires others.
Strong Women are everywhere in our midst. They are in our homes, schools, churches and workplace. They are mothers, grandmothers, great grandmothers and mothers-to-be. They are single, married, career oriented and volunteers. They are ordinary women leading extraordinary lives.
Wesley Medical Center honors Strong Women every day. Wesley has joined together with Lifetime Television for Women, Comcast Cable and local event sponsors, Women’s Pavilion of South Mississippi and Lights Jewelers, to honor 5 Strong Women from our area who have shown extraordinary character in 1 of 5 categories:

Leadership – one who inspires others to take action for a common good
Perseverance – one who has overcome personal adversity
Mentor – one who invests herself in helping another as a counselor, role model, helper or encourager
Defender – one who champions the cause of a disadvantaged person or group
Promise – a young woman aged 14-18 who demonstrates a commitment to high personal standards |
Nominations can be made by any person over the age of 18 and will be accepted through April 12, 2010. All nominees will be judged by a distinguished panel of women including members of Wesley Medical Center’s Board of Trustees, Women’s Advisory Council and medical staff, along with other community leaders.
Winners will be announced on Tuesday, May 11, during “Celebration of Strong Women,” a luncheon at the Hattiesburg Lake Terrace Convention Center.
