Breast Cancer Awareness Month Activities

Wesley Medical Center has taken on the role of Flagship Sponsor of the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.  This awareness event is scheduled for Saturday, October 31 on Pride Field at the University of Southern Mississippi. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the walk begins at 9 a.m. Learn how to register by clicking here.

Timeline

October 1 –
Wesley Medical Center will host an unveiling of the new Breast Health Center, which will be located in the Wesley Medical Plaza with Eden MediSpa. We will reveal the finishes for the space and design concepts. The Breast Health Center, currently located at Wesley Place in the Turtle Creek Mall, will provide education and health services including mammography, blood pressure and weight checks. The new Breast Health Center continue to will house the Wesley Family Library and its extensive collection of over 600 health-related books, audio and videotapes, which will be available for loan.

October 9 –
Wesley Medical Center will hold it’s inaugural Think Pink Contest.  All hospital departments will be encouraged to Go Pink for this Friday.  The more outrageously pink – the better. The department with the greatest effort will be treated to a strawberry ice cream social for their efforts.

October 16 –
The real men of Wesley Medical Center will Go Bald for a Cause this Friday.  Participants will have their heads shaved to show their support for women who undergo chemotherapy and radiation treatments and typically lose their hair.  This will take place during the noon lunch hour in the plaza by the cafeteria.

October 30 –
Wear your Wig Day at Wesley will acknowledge the need for wigs for cancer patients. Employees are encouraged to purchase and wear a wig for the day. They may then donate the wig to the local ACS chapter who will distribute these wigs to women who undergo chemotherapy treatment and are in need.

October 31 –
Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the walk begins at 9 a.m. on Pride Field at USM. Learn how to register by clicking here.
